Sub-Aqua Sealing System

USMP Outboard seal with inflatable tyre fitted to thrustplate.

Thrustplates, inboard and outboard, for both Newark and USMP seals can be supplied with inflatable seals as shown above. When inflated, this provides a seal between the thrustplate and the shaft sleeve or the shaft. This allows the seal to be overhauled without draining the oil from the sterntube.

Divers have been trained on a specially built test rig and, by use of the inflatable seal, can overhaul USMP outboard seals without drydocking and without ballasting the vessel to get the propeller clear of the water - this is not always possible.

The SOFTORKTM seal housing is supplied as standard with an inflatable seal. This enables servicing of the packing material without the need to have the shaft clear of the water.

Key Benefit

No need to dry dock the vessel to overhaul the seal
